Important Reminder for Local 63 Members Spotlight Orientation and Upcoming Elections

ree

As members of Local 63, it’s essential to stay updated on events that significantly impact our union. Tomorrow and Wednesday, August 5 and 6, from 1 PM to 4 PM each day, The Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall will host a Spotlight Orientation. This is a fantastic chance for everyone to get up close and personal with the functions of the Lycian 1295, a piece of equipment essential for our work.

Participation is crucial especially to junior members who have no experience on spot operation. This isn’t a seminar with lectures. It’s a hands-on experience that encourages interaction, enabling you to engage directly with the equipment and its applications.

The Spotlight Orientation offers a unique opportunity for our members to explore the operational aspects of the Lycian 1295. You will have the chance to examine this vital equipment closely, allowing a better grasp of its various functions.

This event aims to help you feel more confident using the Lycian 1295 in future initiatives. Statistics show that hands-on training can improve retention rates by up to 75%. By actively participating in this orientation, you enhance your skills and position yourself to contribute effectively to our collective efforts.

Election Year: A Call to Action for Local 63 Members

This fall is notable for Local 63 as we prepare for upcoming elections. With our Business Agent and Treasurer retiring soon, the door is open for fresh ideas and perspectives in our leadership and these roles.

We encourage all members to consider stepping forward to fill these crucial roles. Leadership positions within our union are vital for guiding us toward common goals representing our interests, and projecting

us into the future.

Roles and Responsibilities

For those who are considering running for these positions, understanding the roles involved is vital.

  • Business Agent: This individual acts as the lead representative for the union. Responsibilities include overseeing negotiations and protecting our members' rights. This role may become amalgamated to include the Call Steward position.

  • Treasurer: The Treasurer manages the union’s finances, ensuring transparency and accountability. This role may become amalgamated to include the Secretary position.

*Thank you to the Manitoba Centennial Concert Hall and staff for their continued support and for accommodating the spot orientation.

Enjoy your remaining days of what has been a rather quick and smokey summer in Manitoba!
